iTunes University

The iTunes university is a new launched section of the Apple iTunes store that features free audio and video downloads from over a dozen universities including Duke, MIT, Arizona State, and Stanford to name a few. The iTunes university is something that gives student a link to things in enhanced education.

The iTunes university can be something that my students could really use. The university will help with learning in the classrooms because will have access to higher level course material. The students will have at the fingertips the links to downloads about lectures, courses, interview, music, and sports the things that go on at the schools that participate in the iTunes university.

Ipods in instruction

At Duke University the students there will receive ipods to conduct research on and also to record assignments and instruction. The adminstration hopes that the Ipods will enchance learning on the campus. The devices are used to improve the education on the students on the campus. They gave the Ipod to all the incoming freshmen to Duke University.

Week 4 Schools that use blogs in their classroom

A school in Tampabay uses blogs in their classrooms to keep parents involved in the things that go on with their children. The blog gives that parents and the students to learn about new things that are occuring at the school throughout the year. The blog website gave parents the opportunity to view their childrens grades on test. The blog for this school was really popular for teachers, parents, and students the website is sptimes.com/2005/08/09/Tampabay.

The New Jersey Education Association have learned that students enjoy writing on their blogs more than they like writing any other time. Alot of teachers agree that blog writing is a good tool for student learning. The teachers also say that the majority of their students are more likely to participate in homework assignments when the blog is involved. The website is www.njea.org.

Fisch Bowl January 2007

In this post Fisch talks about a radical change in Denver's educational system. Fisch really disagrees with the new changes that are coming about in education. He gives short hightlights of what the book entales for the School district of Denver. He gives brief description and gives his opinion on what they mean to him. He reports that some of the examinations that the School districts may design will restrict some students who may not perform well. He also says that they want to recruit students to become school teachers from the top third of high school students. And with this proposal in mind they want to pay teachers more money but slash their retirement funds.

The post goes on in steps about what steps Denver what to do for the educational system. But Fisch readily disagrees with the things that they propose. He also highlights the fact that for their recuit of these top students most wouldn't what to go into teaching. The main factor beening the salary and also the stress levels, the lack of respect, and also the daily grading and reading of paperwork. He also feels that some think that monetary incentives will help but that would only be possible if teachers took a stand to provide an better education for students. And for some people as he says can only be done with a monetary carrot dangled over their heads. I kind of feel the same way Fisch does about his school system because once I enter into I feel I may have the same kind of opinion about Alabama School System. And the way they go about handling things.

Fisch Bowl September 2007 (Karl Fisch)

Karl Fisch's blog won an honorable for the best blog of 2007. He goes in the subject of some teachers being technological illiterate. Which may sometimes be true because not all teachers now every thing all the time. He makes mention of a teachers blog about the subject of teachers not knowing everything. And he comments that teachers must be able to perform certain technological things in the classroom. He says that the teachers who don't know simple things should probably be ashamed for not teaching children things they need to know.

Fisch Bowl

The Fisch Bowl presentation gave a lot of facts about technology in our society today. It really gave me knowledge of things that I didn't know before watching it. Such things as the education system in Great Britain. And also of how many college educated people in India speak English which was a 100%. This presentation gave me a insight to our future as we go along in this world. And who things will readily progess even after we are not here anymore.

ACCESS

The access website gives educators the resources to ways to provide equal opportunities for all students in the state of Alabama. The goal of this Access program is to provide goals and many resources to technology in classrooms for the students. This provides the opportunity for all students to have resources for advanced diplomas, additional advanced courses, and provides teachers with multimedia tools.

The Access program will just make life alot easier in the classroom for both teacher and student. The resources on this site are really amazing, and I wish we had these opportunities when I was in middle and high school. It gives students a chance to be in leadership postions. This will enable students to step out of confinments that they once may have felt about themselves and what they will do in life. I will really enjoy learning more about the program.

New Day

Today doesn't seem like it's going to be a pretty good day because of the clouds outside they look really dark. I hope eventually that the sun comes out to make the day a little bit better. Because I hate the rain.
