Fisch Bowl January 2007

In this post Fisch talks about a radical change in Denver's educational system. Fisch really disagrees with the new changes that are coming about in education. He gives short hightlights of what the book entales for the School district of Denver. He gives brief description and gives his opinion on what they mean to him. He reports that some of the examinations that the School districts may design will restrict some students who may not perform well. He also says that they want to recruit students to become school teachers from the top third of high school students. And with this proposal in mind they want to pay teachers more money but slash their retirement funds.

The post goes on in steps about what steps Denver what to do for the educational system. But Fisch readily disagrees with the things that they propose. He also highlights the fact that for their recuit of these top students most wouldn't what to go into teaching. The main factor beening the salary and also the stress levels, the lack of respect, and also the daily grading and reading of paperwork. He also feels that some think that monetary incentives will help but that would only be possible if teachers took a stand to provide an better education for students. And for some people as he says can only be done with a monetary carrot dangled over their heads. I kind of feel the same way Fisch does about his school system because once I enter into I feel I may have the same kind of opinion about Alabama School System. And the way they go about handling things.
